Does lowering the attachment maximum size delete the attachments bigger than the new size limit?

An old system administrator increased the maximum attachment size to 295MB so that they could host videos on our confluence. We would like to reset that to 20MB. When I set it to 20MB will the files over 20MB be erased?

No, the setting is only used when someone tries to attach a new file (or replace an old one)
