Drag & Drop into Confluence within Chrome has stopped working since upgrading to v19.0.1084.52 on Mac OSX the problem also occurs on Chrome 19.0.1084.52m in Windows

As a follow up people might like to know that this problem has gone away for us after an upgrade to Confluence v4.2.1

Yep, this seems to be a bug and has been reported here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-25538

There will be an backport for Confluence 3.5?

The Jira issue was resolved but in another version/release!!!
