Drop down filter not working

I've inserted a dropdown macro into my template. I can't make a selection in the dropdown until after publishing the template, but after I make a selection - nothing saves. If I refresh, my selection goes away. In my page properties report it, that part of my template shows up as:

Error rendering macro 'dropdown-list'

Couldn't get ServletActionContext request

How can I make my dropdown functional?

Looks like you may not be the only one who couldn't save. Seen multiple posting of similar issue.
