Editing entities.xml to remove unwanted pages before restore on Confluence data center

Nikhil Phadtare March 24, 2025

I want to create a new space from the existing space in the Confluence data center, but I don't want to copy all data as the source space is having a lot of data.
So before restoring new space, can we remove pages from entities.xml or use any other way?

I did it for a few pages and restored space. New space is looking fine.
So my question is, is this the correct approach?
Is there any alternative to handling large amounts of pages and attachments?

Hi @Nikhil Phadtare

Welcome to the community.

You should be able to export to XML you can determine what will be exported. You can re-import this.

Thanks @Marc - Devoteam
You mean custom export?
In Confluence data center version 8.5.19, Custom export of xml is not available.

Hi @Nikhil Phadtare

Yes that's what I meant.

Then the only option is to manually edit the export file.
