I gave viewing permissions to space to a certain group, and to a certain page I gave editing permission to a specific user through the restrictions.

That user still doesn't see the edit button. In order for him to be able to edit the specific page, does he also need editing permission for the entire space?

Yes, you have to give edit permissions (Page (Add)) in space settings otherwise users can only view.
