Recently I've been seeing an error like this on Confluence pages:
This article suggests that the error is because the page is removed, restricted, or missing the excerpt macro, but this doesn't seem to be the case. I'm able to fix it by opening the macro, deleting the page containing the excerpt, and then re-entering the same page containing the excerpt.
Not all instances of the excerpt-include macro are throwing this error, and I haven't been able to find a pattern to the ones that do. Are there any other known reasons why this might happen?
Thanks for your help!
I had the same issue with 2 of 10 excepts from page A which I could not include. Until I noticed that the 2 with error were renamed initially. So while page A shows the new naming, I could only include them in page B with the old excerpt naming otherwise I would get this error.
Throwing the 2 away, re-creation and it worked.
Maybe it helps
Hi @Susan Ostreicher - I had a pretty similar problem and found the solution in restrictions. You may check them again. (Even if it sounds strange when recreating pages... which fix the problem) Did you try access with different users?

Thanks, Fabienne! The page containing the excerpt did not have any restrictions, so I don't think that was the issue.

I have the same issue.
Everytime I change the page-name or edit certain objects on the page the space-key is lost in the macro (pagename is still there) - rewrite the space-key and the excerpt include macro is working.

I found what was causing the problem with the macro in my case - The document name/title contained a colon. The macro then worked as long as you did not change content on the page. But when you changed something on the page the Excerpt include lost the Space key setting (since it is written with spacekey:page title
