Error when importing backup from 6.10.1 to newer version 7.0.2

Daniel Santaella August 18, 2020

Dear Community,

I have a problem when upgrading to a new version of Confluence (7.0.2). I have both instances of Confluence running at the same time in different locations as the guides say, but every time I leave the backup in the folder for the new instance to restore it, it gives an error regarding attachments.

What is the best way to restore a 400-500MB backup from 6.10.1 to 7.0.2?

Best regards,

Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for raising this with us. The backup files you are instructed to create in the beginning of the upgrade process are an insurance. It's so you have a copy of your data should anything go wrong. The Confluence site backup files aren't meant to be used to upgrade. Could you share with me the documentation you were following that mentions this process?

In order to upgrade Confluence, we recommend the installer method. For some cases, the manual method is better. If one of these were the methods you were already using, please let me know!

Take care,

Shannon
