External link to Confluence anchor

Hi,

I have read some threads related to this subject, unfortunately I havent found a solution.

I'm trying to access to a predefine anchors I have created on a Confluence page, I have used the guidelines and it is possible to paste the link within the address bar of the browser, however, when clicking the link from an external system, I get into Confluence home page or the recents ones I viewed.

* it is important to mentioned that my company works with okta, hence, I need to authenticate before accessing Confluence.

Even after my brwoser was connected (tried with chrom and IE) I'm unable to access the specific locationon the page using the anchor link.

Are there any settings I need to follow to make this work correctly?

Hi Elad,

You mentioned you followed the guidelines, just to make sure we are on the same page, are you referring to Anchors? The external link syntax is:

http://myconfluence.com/display/spacekey/pagename#pagename-anchorname

The Okta layer is an unknown element for me, but you mention that the links still don't take you to the anchors even when you already have a session in the browser.

Please let me know if you are using the syntax from the Anchors doc. Please also elaborate on what happens when you are unable to access the specific location on the page using the anchor link. Do you land on another part of the page, or on the recently viewed/ home page?

Is there a way also to still refer to that anchor, even if the page name has changed? I tried to use the page's id in the permalink instead of the page name, but that does not seem to work. E.g., if there would be something like a pageId that never changes, one could reference a page like this:

http://myconfluence.com/display/spacekey/pageid#pageid-anchorname

In my projects, page names can change quite often, so external links to anchors end up breaking.
