Fixed Variables in Templates

Is there a way to fix the variables within a template once it's a page?

We've created a template based on the Product Requirements Blueprint. When users create a page based on that template they fill out the form using the provided dropdowns etc. in the wizard. But once they hit next, and it's a page, they could conceivably change that information, e.g. a provided dropdown of "yes, no" could be changed to "oogabooga" on the following page.

I am afraid there is not a way to do that. Once the page is created, the information from the template is transform to XHTML so there is no difference between what was a variable in the template or normal text.
