Genesis Report Writing- I need to create a list that pulls students of specific teachers.

The report I need to make has to include student username/password, grade level, and school. I am specifically only interested in the students for specific teachers though. I was hoping to write the report in a way that I could select a teacher name from a dropdown parameter and have the generated list only include that teachers name. I am having trouble with this as that dropdown tends to not actually influence the outcome of the report. I have it set to be a list of teachers for the School Name selected at the top of the screen. Does anyone have a better way to accomplish this? All of the other data is populating properly.
