Got an error: This page is too big to save

Walter Hamilton April 26, 2020

There is not much text on the saving page but having 10 pictures. If I remove all pictures in this page, the page is saved without problems.

When adding any of the pictures (via copying Ctrl+C), there are no problems - an attachment coping window is displayed as usual and the picture is rendered. But if I try to save the page, a strange message appears:

This page is too big to save[...]

The log file (catalina.out) is nothing to say about what happened.

  • If there is an error in the size of the inserted image on the page, then why do you let it be done at the coping stage?
  • Why don’t you say anything about the picture size in the error message? Because even if you divide the page into several, the error will still occur

check out the tomcat's app/conf/server.xml file, the connector defaults the maxPostSize to 16MB which can prevent the Confluence to receive the whole POST call from the editor.

@Walter Hamilton  You would need to show the logs  in <confluence_home>/logs when you tried to save the page,  that we could see whether or not is problem with  attachment size
