How are the menus on the Atlassian Documentation front page created?

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

Normally, to make menus like these, I use the pagetree macro with a page hierarchy, but that makes the root menu items linked to pages, instead of opening the submenu when clicked like on Atlassian's documentation site

I have clearly missed the boat on this, can someone clue me in?

The expand macro with links inside the body. That is what they are using.

When you use a documentation theme for your Confluence space you are getting a similar page-tree sidebar (tracking your current page) for free, so to say.

Have you tried to use Documentation theme?
