Context
Our organisation uses Confluence for internal wiki using SSO tagged to my company email address - firstname.lastname@company.com. Now I'm invited to access another organisation's confluence using the same enterprise email address.
Problem
My user journey from email invite link to launching confluence to access the other organisation wiki was not so great - full of glitches.

It does support this, and absolutely fine. I've got access to dozens of systems via one email address.
It looks to me like the problem you had was that you had not been enabled for access to the new Confluence when you tried to get in. That's what the message you got was telling you.
In fact we have the opposite problem in some cases. I've got two Atlassian accounts with different emails. You can't use them both at the same time in different Cloud or Atlassian systems. You have to use two separate browsers - not too painful for me, but imagine if you have several accounts!
