How can we sort by Date in the Forums without our search term spaces getting munged.

I have done a search using this:

create URL link on image confluence

I then wanted to sort by date since there were lots of hits from 5-10 years ago.

When I click on Sort by Date, the search terms get clobbered like this:

create%20URL%20link%20on%20image%20confluence

And then there are no results.

I have no idea how to get this to the people maintaining the Forums...

You're absolutely right — the current forum search behavior does seem to mangle the search query when sorting by date. It looks like the search terms are being URL-encoded a second time (e.g., spaces becoming %20), which breaks the search entirely.

Unfortunately, there’s no official workaround from the platform side right now — but one thing that sometimes helps is:

• After sorting by date, try manually decoding the search term in the URL bar (replace %20 with spaces), and reload the page.

That said, this is definitely a bug or UX issue with how the search is handled. I’d recommend reporting it to the Atlassian Community Platform team.
