We would like to use confluence to collaborate on statements of work that require specific formats. However, when we export to Word, none of our table formats such as row backgrounds and table borders are applied.  It doesn't seem like we should have to modify velocity templates for the Word export to at least look the same as the UI or PDF export.  How do we apply the same table modifications in the Word export?

You must check for the settings used for the word export. As far as I know there is a word export template somewhere. So the job would be to find out where that is, ensure you have permission to adapt it, learn about the syntax and change to your liking.

If you search for confluence + word export you might find some more information like the following https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/How+to+Customise+MS+Word+Exports

Karie,

I haven't used it myself (yet) but perhaps the Scroll Office plugin would do the job for you? This is something I'll be dealing with here eventually
