How do I change a name of the confluence link?

Samantha Sharkov April 17, 2020

I have created a new (unpublished) blank page in Confluence. I want to add hyperlink to a word Research linking to another Confluence page. But it doesn't let me without any error. I click Edit, type the new name, click Enter - and nothing.

Hello Samantha,

Welcome to Atlassian Community. I'd love to help you find out why you're not able to edit your hyperlinks.

I'm assuming that in this case you're using the new Confluence editor?

In my case, I pasted the link to the page, and if I click on it, I can then click Edit link and I'm able to change the name here by typing in the window that pops up.

For example:

  1. I select the smart link on the page by clicking once, and click Edit link.

  2. I enter the text in the field that I want to link.CleanShot 2020-04-20 at 12.16.57.png
  3. I hit Enter and it saves:

It saves properly, so I don't believe that I am able to replicate the problem you're running into. Could you confirm if your menu options look the same, or if you're on the old editor?

Have you confirmed with your Confluence site admin if other users are having the same issue?

Lastly, can you replicate this across multiple browsers?

Take care,

Shannon

Thank you, Shannon! It is the same editor but hitting Enter doesn't do the trick. It is a lower priority at this time, so I'll leave it for now. Looks like a bug.

Hi Samantha,

In that case, please do make sure to report it to your site admin so they can raise the ticket with us. The ticket will be prioritized accordingly. We'll be able to report it to the development team in the event that it is a bug, so they can get this fixed.

Thank you again!

Shannon
