How do I create blueprints / templates that will use the new fabric editor?

Crystal July 10, 2019

We would like our retrospective and requirement templates to use the new fabric editor. As a workaround right now, I copy/paste content and add a tag.

Is there any way to activate using new blueprints/templates in our Confluence?

@Crystal - I'm the product manager in Confluence Cloud working on the new editing experience and I'll reach out via email to explain options to accelerate the rollout of the new editor to your instance.

Hello @Diego
is it possible to opt-in for the new editing experience earlier? We have the same problem, that we cannot create blueprint templates with the new experience.

@Andreas Berger absolutely. Simply reach out to our support team here https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/ and they can help you opt in your instance earlier.

Hello there Crystal!

As I understand, you need to use our templates with the new Confluence editor, is that correct?

Looking at out documentation, you should already have such templates. Take a look:

Here we have the list of templates that are available for the platform:

With the above in mind, could you share with us:

  1. What exactly are you facing when you try to create a page with the templates?
  2. What shows up when you click the + sign to create a new page?
  3. What happens if you publish a page with the templates?

Looking forward to your reply Crystal.

My specific need right now is that our Requirements template/blueprint will use the new template.

When I select  "use template" from the Confluence Templates page, it asks me to sign up for a free trial, even though I am already signed in.

1. When I create a new template/blueprint, it only creates with the old editor.

2. When I click +, I get the option to select other new templates, but "Product Requirements" with the new template is not available - only with the old template

3. Publishing a page with the available templates works fine.

I don't know if you get a notification to follow up on these replies... I will open a support ticket :-)

Hello Crystal! Thanks for getting back to us. So, looking at the screenshot you sent us, I can see that the new editing experience is not applied to your instance yet.

Your instance still has the new editor listed as an option under the templates which is why it is not applicable to all pages yet.

Here is an excerpt from our documentation:

We've also made the new editing experience available as a template, so you can try it out and familiarize yourself with it in your own time.

We started releasing this in late Feb, but we're rolling out gradually to only a small number of sites at a time.

We'll give you at least 6 weeks notice before this rolls out to your site, so keep an eye out for emails and in-app notifications.

You can check more details on this here:

For short, the new editor is not available because it was not rolled out to your instance yet.

Let us hear from you Crystal! Hope this helps.
