How do I prevent Confluence from dropping characters in links to anchor macros on pages?

When I add anchor macros within a page and then link (advanced anchor link) to it using the syntax #anchorname, the anchor links break often because Confluence drops the characters from the link. For example, Confluence changes the link from #mapping to #mapp. On some anchor links, Confluence drops almost all the characters (#m instead of #mapping)!

Does anyone else experience this? Why does this happen? How can I prevent it from happening?

Hello Laura,

It looks like you're hitting into a known issue with Confluence's anchor links.

There seems to be a workaround for the issue for now however, where we need to edit the link and save it by clicking on the Save button after entering the anchor destination, rather than pressing the Enter key.

Do vote and watch the issue as well, Laura, as this raises the visibility of it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Sattesh
