How do I set up a Confluence macro search that also uses additional selection filters?

I want to have a search similar to the one on this Atlassian page:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/search/?productName=Confluence
...where users can enter search terms, but also select from controlled-list filters. Is this something I can do with macros alone or do I have to get development involved? I've looked for instructions but no luck yet. Thanks.
