We are currently using Spaces in Confluence for Projects and Teams. The only issues is that some of the teams are dynamic and change members quite often, case in which someone should manage that space and always update the member. Is there an automatic way in which a new member can be linked to the team in Confluence? Or a former member to be deleted from Confluence once he is not part of that team anymore?
Thank you
Hello there Valentina, glad that you came here to our Community!
Well, first thing I would like to point out is that we should not delete users from Confluence. There are connections that exist between the content and its creator. However, if the user has not created any content, you should be able to delete the user. Up to Confluence 6.12 it is not recommended to delete users:
- Delete or disable users
For Confluence 6.12.x and earlier, we have a workaround for situations where GDPR applies:
- Right to erasure in Confluence server and data center
Now on Confluence 6.13, due to GDPR, Confluence can handle the process of deleting users:
- Delete or disable users - Confluence 6.13.x
For the team management, you should be able to create a group and then include the users in it:
- Confluence Groups
- Adding or removing users in groups
After creating the desired groups, you can now include them into the Space permissions:
- Space permissions overview
When someone is not part of the project anymore, you can remove them from the group and they should not be able to access the space. Please keep in mind that they should not be granted individual permissions to the space for this to work.
If the user is granted with individual permissions to the space, the access to it will still be available.
So, Valentina, please let the Community know if this helps your case!
