How to build a template with Excerpt macro and Excerpt include macro ?

Salim EL MOUMMY March 28, 2025

Hello,

Can I get your help here Plz ?

I'm trying to build a template where I add an Excerpt.
I'm trying to add that earlier Excerpt an the same template so it can be shown later an the same page created with that template !

The problem is : even if a save the template before using the Excerpt Include Macro, I don't find the name of "A page" so I can include my Excerpt ?
How to use it ?
Is there any woraround to add a new Excerpt and Include it on the template ?

@Salim EL MOUMMY Welcome to the community.

As you've found, you cannot create an excerpt on a template; you must create it on a published page in order for it to be used on another page in an Excerpt Include macro.

If what you want is to have the text of an Excerpt to be included on all pages you create from a template, you might be able to put the Excerpt Include macro on the template (I haven't tried this, so I'm not sure). You would, however, need to create the excerpt on a page first.

@Barbara Szczesniak

Hello,

It's true, I found no way to include a new Excerpt created on a template, unless it's already created on a page.

There will be a lot of clicks to include all the excerpts and every time I need to clone them on  the page.

Thank you for your answer.

Regards
