How to create attractive Blog Summary Pages ?

We want to provide an attractive summary page for latest Blog posts for our development community - like this example from Atlassian:

Which Apps or Plugins did you use ?
Any Tutorial on this ?

We are aware of the Blog Posts Macro - but the functionality (styling&configuration) is too limited.

I think our app Lively Blogs for Confluence might offer what you're looking for. It comes with a global overview page for all your blogs which is also available via a macro to be inserted into other pages.
