How to implement the name of a page as a variable in multi excerpts (include) in Confluence space

Mustafa Al Kawwas March 22, 2024 edited

I would like to create a multi excerpt (name of multi excerpt 'MEx') in a page (page title 'ABCD EFG').

When I create a page (with the title name '1.1. ABCD EFG') in the same space and a multi excerpt include (with the multi excerpt source '[Page title]' without '1.1. ' so the page title after the first space bar) and the name of multi Excerpt 'MEx', I would have a multi Excerpt include with the source page 'ABCD EFG' and multiexcerpt name 'MEx' automatically.

How is this possible? please help.

Creating pages sounds a lot like it would need to be either a Blueprint or a plugin.

Do you have an idea how to do it? Like step-by-step instructions?

I am not sure I understand your goal.

Can you maybe visualize your idea, to show which parts of which pages you want to pull into other pages?

  • This is my space that contains Daily report 1, Daily report 2, and a template (referenced - Name): Image 1
  • Content of Daily report 1 Table 1 is a table that is implemented in a multiexcerpt and the same is applied to report 1 Table 2 as well as the 2 tables in Daily report 2 (all tables have different contents) and all Multiexcerpts have the same name (MExerpt): Image 2
  • Goal: I want to configure a Multiexcerpt Include in tables 1 & 2 in the page "Referenced - [Name]" to do the following:
    • When I copy this template and replace "[Name]" with Daily report 1, a page called "Referenced - Daily report 1" will be created with the subpages "Referenced - Daily report 1 Table 1" & "Referenced - Daily report 1 Table 2" as the following: Image 3
  • Now here is the challenge:
    • I want the content of the subpage "Referenced - Daily report 1 Table 1" to be a multiexcerpt Include that is linked to the Multiexcerpt "MEx" in the subpage "Daily report 1 Table 1" automatically after copying the template "Referenced - [Name]" and replacing [Name] with "Daily report 1" (same way for Table 2)
    • So basically I want to implement a variable in the Multiexcerpt Include that would get the page title without the part "Referenced - ". In this way the link Multi excerpt (in ex. Daily report 1 Table 1) will automatically connect to Multiexcerpt include (in Referenced - Daily report 1 Table 1) only by copying the template and replacing [Name] with the page title (ex. Daily report 1) and the same for Daily report 1 Table 2
