How to make Jira issues visible in Confluence page to a non Jira User

Justin Garrett August 25, 2023

Hi,

We wish to display Jira Issues in a Confluence page using the Jira Issues Filter.

For anyone who has access to both Jira and Confluence these issues display fine.

How do we make them visible to users who only have Confluence access please?

Currently those users only see a "Data cannot be retrieved due to an unexpected error. View these issues in JIRA" error

I know it's a permission issue, I just cannot find the correct option after searching for the last hour or two!

Any help much appreciated!

Hello @Justin Garrett

In order for a user of Confluence to see Jira issues in Confluence through the Jira macros, the user must have permission to see the issues in Jira itself.

Either the user needs to be a licensed user of the Jira product with permissions to view the issues in the referenced projects, or you must enable Anonymous Access to your Jira information.

Hi Trudy,

OK thanks for clarifying that for me.

I will have a read up on Anonymous Access to see if it is something that we are prepared to open up. I would be concerned by whether this information is then publicly viewable / searchable

Yes, if you enable Anonymous Access for your project then it becomes publicly accessible to everybody on the internet.

If you had a Premium subscription that gives you access to IP Whitelisting which would enable you to limit the Anonymous access to specified IPs.
