How to show macro before the comments on all pages in a space?

I've been fiddling around with page layouts to try to get the Children Display macro to show up before the comments on all pages in my space, but I can't get it to work.

I went to look and feel>Layout>Page Layout>Create Custom and added the following

$helper.renderConfluenceMacro("{children}")

 I've tried putting it in different places, but it never seems to end up in the place I want it to be.
