How to use template variables in Content-by-Label and to label a page?

I'd like to write a user macro that uses template variables the user enters.

How can I get these template variables into the user macros?

It's not possible to use global variables in User Macros, but this larger feature request would help to do that:

I would recommend that you vote on that and comment there with your usage case.
