I created a page and sometimes, rather randomly, the page doesn't completely load.

Keith Green April 21, 2020

The page was created with a form designed on it, using the "Forms Configurations" tool. Usually when the page loads, there are two round circles, top and bottom, that go round and round until something that is trying to load finally loads. Right now on-screen I see that the bottom circle, where the form data is displayed in columns, is gone which I guess indicates it's completely loaded that item. However, the top circle, where the form is trying to load, is still just spinning round and round, and the form is not loading... any ideas?

Hi Keith,

Thank you for raising this with us.

Could you clarify with me what the Forms Configurations tool is? Is it provided by a Marketplace add-on, perhaps?

From what you're saying, it sounds like it's only this page that's acting up? Are other pages that use this tool behaving the same way?

Thank you for your help!

Shannon

Hello Shannon,

So yes we are using "Easy Forms" (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/261/forms-for-confluence?hosting=cloud&tab=overview) from Marketplace add-on as you indicated. We've been using this add-on for more then a year now, and from time to time this one form we created seems to not want to load correctly. The page has an input form on the top, and below that we've got a Table with all of the data being collected. I'm now wondering if the data collection has grown to be too large for that page... but IDK... Your thoughts?

Hi Keith,

Thank you for clarifying. I'm not really familiar how the add-on might be storing its data, but I've definitely seen large Confluence pages having loading issues before due to number of macros and data on a page. For example, with multiple Jira issues macros turning many results.

I'd recommend that you test to see if all Forms for Confluence pages are encountering the loading issue, or if only certain pages are encountering that issue. For example, ones with a lot of saved data or macros on a page.

Try to contact Adaptavist directly on this (see Forms for Confluence Support), or have your admin raise a ticket with the Support Team and we can get a look at your logs and help determine the cause of the performance issue.

Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Shannon

Thanks Shannon,

So one of the Admin's from my office had already send support the information but said no one has got back to him yet. I guess I'm the only one to attempt making any forms and the one form is my only form so far. I created it over a year ago, and as I said it's been mostly working OK, with only a few hiccups along the way. So no matter what I do now, I'm not able to create any forms that display at all. Sure, I can create the form, but even in the "Preview" it doesn't display. I've also tried to create forms with "ConfiFroms", but again the same thing happens, or doesn't happen, I can't see the Preview or actual form in action... hope that helps and not sure what else I can explain at this point.

Thanks, Keith

If you need help with ConfiForms then please open a support request with us and we will help you out - https://wiki.vertuna.com/x/S4GW

Preview in Confluence cloud is very broken with new editor. And, unfortunately, is not something what is plugin specific. And there is not much we, as plugin vendors, can do.

The best option is to design/configure your form in the editor and then save the page to see the results.

Hi Keith,

Thank you for that information. I'm glad to hear your admin raised a ticket with our support team already. Even if you suspect it could be a 3rd party add-on, we can have a look your site logs and let you know for sure. Like @Alex Medved _ConfiForms_ mentioned, it could be an issue with the Cloud editor itself, so the logs will give us more clarity.

I tried looking for your admin's support ticket, but there are currently no support cases associated with the Cloud site on which you are a user. It may be that they raised it under another account, or a separate email, so I hope that they hear from us soon! If you're able to share the case number, I'd be happy to look into the status of it.

Take care,

Shannon

Hey Shannon,

OK so I guess the Admin, Mike, said he tried to contact support but wasn't able to complete the support ticket for some reason... so there's no case# to reference. I just Emailed in to support my information so hopefully that will open a ticket and I'll receive a case# to move forward.

Maybe you can let me know if you see it there.

Thanks, Keith

Hey Shannon,

So OK I'm now speaking with someone from Vertuna Support for the ConfiForms App. I'm really not sure which program to use, Easy Forms or ConfiForms, but at this point I've already recreated the form in ConfiForms and the same issues is happening.

Hi Keith,

No worries; it could be if your site is on a Starter license, it's Community-support eligible, so we'd usually work directly with them through a question here in those cases.

If you're having the problem on both ConfiForms and Forms for Confluence, then it's a Confluence issue, and not related to the add-ons. I would definitely want to get a look at those site logs.

If you can share this thread with your admin, have them follow-up here. Then I can work with them and get in touch with the rest of the support team on this if needed.

Thanks again!

Shannon
