Hello, I'm completely brand new to confluence and I wanted to design a organization chart for my team for visibility. There will be some text such as projects they're working on and their own personal description and a picture of themselves. What are some of the best macros (that work in legacy confluence) to use in order to have the cleanest, and nicest looking org chart. If you know of these macros, can you give me a step by step on how to use it as well to format it as well? I have also tried using panel, and while it works I want something that looks more aesthetically pleasing.

Hi, @Cassius French! ✨

If you want to have a good visual overview of the organization, I'd go with Confluence Whiteboards. Atlassian even has a template for that: https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/templates/org-chart

As you're using legacy Confluence (likely Confluence Server or Data Center, or Classic editor on Cloud), here are some better macro options and layout tips to build a clean, visually appealing org chart - with team member images, personal descriptions, and project info:

  1. User profile macro - best for displaying profile photo, name, and contact info. Not customizable for projects and descriptions.
  2. Combination of Section, Column, Panel, Image and Table macros for structure and content. This gives you full control of formatting. For example, use sections to split page into rows, columns to organize side-by-side. Add panels for each person, images for profile pictures and tables for structured info (name, role, team, projects, etc).
  3. Apps like draw.io, Lucidchart, Gliffy Diagrams - these allow visual drag-and-drop org charts with pictures, labels, and hierarchy.

Hope this gives you some ideas! ☀️
