Imported Word document with nested list does not come over correctly

Katherine Williams May 16, 2019

To get my department's Confluence space set up, I am doing a lot of importing Word documents, most of which include numbered and nested lists of test cases. I've run into this issue enough that I figured I would open a question about it.

So here is what the Word doc looks like. (Ignore the special characters Word is showing, like the dots for spaces and the paragraph symbol.) Notice how the list is nested and looks great, right? I can confirm there are no extra spaces in front of the third level starting with "Name of your first employer".

Now, here is what happens when I import it into Confluence. That third level of data comes over with a TON of extra spaces (that's what the red line is indicating, thanks to my Grammarly plug in) and it is not part of the numbered list above. Snag_44bc496a.png

What gives? Has anyone else come across this? (I tried searching other questions but to no avail.)

How can I fix this (if possible)? If it's not possible for me to fix, should I suggest it as a product improvement?
