In Confluence, hot to mention someone in the task without assigning the task to them. The task is not assigned to anyone in particular, so i could not put them first in the task text.
If you just type their name without the @ sign, their name will show up, but it will not email them or assign the task to them. But the name will just be text. It will not be recognized as a Mention.
So, is there a way around this? Where I could keep the mention?

In this way it will be simple text. Purpose of mentions (macro) is usually notify mentioned person(s).

I want to be able to mention them without assigning the task. Could you please add this functionality?

I think you are mixing two things - tasks and mentions. If you do not want assign tasks by mention to someone then just don't mention this person. You don't have any option.
Or you can mention someone on first line and on next lines you can start typing tasks without mention. So it's more about your policy for writing Confluence pages.
You can try ask Atlassian Support directly (we are just community members like you) with this idea - but I can tell you you have very very low chance for implementing this - because it's mail purpose of this functionality. As you can see here (https://confluence.atlassian.com/confeval/confluence-evaluator-resources/confluence-how-do-i-create-a-task ) first mentioned user is assigned to task and that's what the most of companies want.

The reason I asked for it is that it is the real case. I was mentioned in the task because it was created based on my feedback (they might need to talk more to me so they need to mention me). Nevertheless I am not the one to be assigned the task. This is why I was asking whether it could be implemented :)

Then it's more clear reason why you ask for it. :-) Then maybe you can ask then for mentioning someone another as first (so team leader or person who made edit or anyone else who will work on that) and if they mention you as second one than it will be ok for you.
Or another way is making tasks in table with one column with task and in second mention you. If this could not be suitable than you can also use "User Profile" macro.
I think there could be some another workarounds, but still it will must be based on some content rule or policies inside your team or company.

Hi,
just start typing '@' and Confluence will start hint names when you will continue with first chars.

It would not solve the problem because then the person mentioned first will get an email notification that they are assigned the test and this is the opposite of what I want :)
i don’t want to assign the task to anybody but still be able to mention someone in the task.
