I have a matrix which I use to score business priority scores for Analysis items in our project backlog
Running down the left I have 5 Categories and across the top I have 5 weighted priorities. The Excel file I use allows a user to put an "x" under one of the 4 priorities for all of the 5 categories and it adds them up and provides a priority of: Highest, High, Medium, Low
When I use the Confluence Excel macro it only lets me view the excel file. It doesn't allow user interaction.
So my questions are:
- Is there a way to use the Excel Macro to allow user interaction?
- If there isn't is there away to create an interactive table for the user's to use?
As a secondary question in regards to the Excel Macro how does it work with files and multiple tabs?
Hello Darryl,
The information you’ve provided sounds like a bug request we have currently. Currently you’re only able to edit Excel files via their native application and not within Confluence cloud. The bug for this can be found at CONFCLOUD-56515, please vote and watch this request to receive future updates to its status.
There is additional information on the office excel macro at Office Excel Macro which has the following note acknowledging the feedback received per this macro:
A note on the Excel macro
We've received feedback that the Excel macro doesn't meet expectations in some cases. There are some known issues with it right now, which are detailed below. So why are we proceeding with the rollout? We're making infrastructure changes for the overall benefit of Confluence users, but they mean that we can't keep the old Office and PDF macros working much longer. We need to proceed with the rollout so we can move forward with the infrastructure changes that have a much wider impact than this macro.
In saying that, we, of course, genuinely care about every user's experience with Confluence, and always want it to be the best. If you're having real trouble with the new file viewer in the Excel macro, comment on this issue and let us know. There unfortunately isn't a short-term fix, as we do need to move off the old Excel macro, but we'll keep working on a better solution for the Excel macro.
While not a direct answer, I do hope this clarifies the issue you’re having along with providing the bug request for the issue and the acknowledgement of the feedback from the macro itself.
Regards,
Stephen Sifers
