Is it possible to predefine a mention in a blueprint or template?

Hi,

I'm creating a checklist for on- and offboarding of employees, and I'd like to create a template as a tasklist with pre-defined responsible parties. If I could hardcode user mentions in the template, those persons would automatically get notified when a page was created and they where given a task.

Is something like that possible? And if not - have you any suggestions for a workaround?

Hello there! Thanks for sharing your question with the Community.

Could you clarify a few points for us:

  1. Are you able to create new Page Templates in Confluence?
  2. Is your Confluence instance Cloud or Server?

Nonetheless, you should be able to insert mentions on a Page Template. For Confluence Server, you could follow like this:

  1. Click Cog Icon > General Configuration
  2. Search for Global Templates and Blueprints
  3. Edit (or create) the desired Template
  4. Add the mention to the desired user
  5. Save the template

When you create a page using this template, the mention should be automatically inserted in the page.

For Confluence Cloud you can follow like this:

  1. Click the Cog Icon on the left bar
  2. Search for Global Templates and Blueprints
  3. Edit (or create) the desired Template
  4. Add the mention to the desired user
  5. Save the template

The results should be the same as what we get in Confluence Server!

Let us know your results!

Hi @Diego We're on cloud and this is definitely not working. Using @ in a template doesn't show any users, and trying to add mention from the menu shows error: "

No macro metadata There is no metadata configured for this macro which means no configuration screen can be presented here. If this is a user macro then you can add metadata to the template using the User Macro Administration console."

Hi again!

You are right, I was able to reproduce the behaviour on my Cloud Instance. With this in mind, I have raised the following Bug Report:

CONFCLOUD-65668 | User mention on Page Template creation does not work

You could proceed by voting and watching the report. Voting increases the report visibility and watching will keep you up to date with everything!

Hello Atlassian Team,

I'm raising this issue again because I am seeing this same behavior. I'm trying to add @-mentions to custom templates for onboarding tasks and they are not sending notifications to my team.

Let me know if I need to submit any further information.

Thanks
