Is it still not possible to add Comments to image files within Confluence pages?

Found numerous previous inquiries that seem to indicate this is not functioning; just looking for confirmation that it's true; one never knows if the threads found are the final word or not.

When I open an image in Confluence I can see the Comment pin, but when I drag the comment pin onto the image, no comment input box appears, the pin just dissolves into thin air.

We have been adding some text below the image that we comment on until this is fixed.  Not a great workaround but that is what we have been doing at this time.

Yes, we have making notes separately from the image as well, but I was surprised to find that when you 'open' (enlarge) an image, there is pin for Commenting, but that it does not actually function.
