This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Apply a Theme to a Space
I recall in the 5.5 docs that there were plans to merge the documentation theme with the default theme. Is this still the plan?
Hi Scott,
I'm one of the tech writers on the Confluence team. The documentation theme is indeed still a thing, but we do have plans to remove it in Confluence 6.0. You can read about the change here End of Support Announcements for Confluence.
We're making some much loved parts of the doc theme available in the default theme (such as the ability to add custom content to the sidebar, and to have a header and footer in your space), and will also be providing plenty of information and assistance to help you move from the documentation theme to the default theme when the time comes.
Thanks @Rachel Robins! I appreciate you and @Eduardo Mallmann following up. My team recently considered dividing our space into "Team", "Docs", and "KB" sections so your answer is very helpful. We're rethinking our plan.

Hello Scott,
Yes, that's still true: https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf55/confluence-user-s-guide/organising-content/working-with-pages/using-the-documentation-theme
Here's the JIRA ticket for this plan: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-38256
