Is there a way to display transcluded content in the editor?

Identity March 16, 2015

Hello.

Is there any way to display transcluded content from other documents while in the editor?

Currently, the Transclusion macro only displays the transcluded content while viewing the page (in read mode) or when previewing the macro result. Is there a way to show that content inline while in the editor?

The objective would be to be able to document the documentation process. For instance, when a user is creating or editing a page, complementing content transcluded from another document, we'd like to show the Notes section inline in the editor, to aid the user on how to create content.

Thanks,

João

Hello João,

thank you for evaluating projectdoc!

Unfortunately the projectdoc macros indeed only render in view mode.

For documentation purposes we currently (version 1.2+) provide a help link for each section, and from version 1.5.0 on - which will be available soon - the Document Properties Marker Macro (the one that encloses the properties on top of every template) will also provide such a link. Maybe this suits your requirements to support your users in writing documentation?

Currently the target for those links is configured with a JSON file attached to a page in your wiki.

Here is the documentation for this feature in the current version (1.4.0) of projectdoc:https://www.smartics.eu/confluence/display/PDAC1/documentation-json-uri

Kind regards,

Thanks for the reply.

Although not the ultimate solution for supporting users, what you've described is certainly enough.

Regards, Joao.
