Is there a way to restore my space without an xml file?

Mike Scott April 17, 2020

Here are some details:

  • Confluence server 7.3.5 (installed from a previous .xml file)
  • Windows 10 x64 1909 (on a local desktop server)
  • I somehow borked mysql user privileges. I can't access the database with confluence on it, through the server. So i cant use mysql to make an .sql backup of the tables.
  • Confluence won't start because it can't access the database either, so I can't create an .xml backup file (as far as I know)
  • I've tried copying the table files from the mysql "data" folder to a new server, and tried ALLL kinds of ways to get the new server to acknowledge the files. But no, fml.
  • I've tried ALLL kinds of ways to restore user privileges. Including the solution from the mysql site (mysql-resetting-permissions)... Still, no... FML
    • btw I get the following error:
    • 2020-04-18T00:18:25.708043Z 0 [System] [MY-010116] [Server] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\bin\mysqld.exe (mysqld 8.0.19) starting as process 12928

    •  If I move the "Data" folder I can run the command but it does nothing...
  • I've spent almost 2 days fiddling with mysql, which is why I'm on here, before I give up, and accept my losses

  1. Is there anyway to "move" files from the original confluence "program files" to a new installation?
  2. Or does anyone know a way I can use the tables to restore my space?

Basically is there anyway I can restore my confluence space without mysql or confluence?

!!Thanks!!

If you do not have access to the DB or confluence then you will not be able to recover it.  Have you tried this to get access to the mySQL DB? https://phoenixnap.com/kb/how-to-reset-mysql-root-password-windows-linux  If you follow the windows section this should get you back in and then you can get confluence running again and create a backup.

Hey Brant, thanks for trying, but that is the fix that comes from mysql themselves. I had posted the link. It didn't work for me.
