I want to create pages where's there is a description text on the left or right of an image and make both of them vertically align to each other.
In foresight and with minimal context provided in the question, a probable way which I could think of is leveraging the options under 'Page Layout' in 'Edit' mode.
Based on your requirements, you may create necessary sections in your Confluence page and customize them using the sectional layouts. The left/right align customization may have to be done independently for each section.

I insert a 2-column layout, and then put my steps or other text on the left and my image on the right (or the other way around if that makes more sense on the page).
Based on the size of my image, I might use the layout where the 2 columns are the same size or the one where the left or right column is wider.
