Livesearch macro doesn't provide results unless you hit 'enter' key

Christopher Taverna October 22, 2018

I run two Confluence sites, both at the same version (6.10.1) and both have the livesearch macro on the homepage. On one it works fine and on the other if you put a search term in the working icon just spins but never gets results. However, hitting enter does bring you to the search results page. I don't see any way to configure things differently, and it does work in the preview window, just not on the live page.

This is the site it doesn't work on if you'd like to see it in (in)action: https://policy.fredonia.edu

Thank you!

Hey Christopher,

I've tested on that page and found that the livesearch is actually working. It's just that there's something with the theme of the page glomming the results down to the bottom left. Adjusting your browser window (or scrolling down as far as possible), you can see the results pop up:

Not being familiar with Brikit's particulars or the theme you've selected, it will be difficult to troubleshoot why the results aren't going where they're supposed to. But the two classes we assign to the search results are:

  • aui-dropdown
  • search-macro-dropdown

If you've got a resource familiar with the Brikit template available, have them check out anything in the CSS that might be pushing those classes around.

Cheers,
Daniel
