I am about to migrate a confluence from Ubuntu (mysql) to Windows (sql server). Since I am out of support I can't use any developer license to test a migration before. What happens if I use the same license for the windows machine and keep the ubuntu machine running? I just need to be sure that I can restore the XML backup and everything works, after that I shutdown the ubuntu instance. I can't take this off and experiement on the windows server.
Is this possible to do, or will I run into errors? I don't know how license checks are done.
thank you
Hi Hendrik,
Confluence won't allow you to insert the same production license into two or more instances. You'll certainly have issues trying to do this.
In order to be able to set up your new Windows environment, since you can't have the development license, I suggest you create a evaluation license, which will allow you to perform all configuration steps.
Please log into My Atlassian. From here, click on 'New Evaluation License' and follow the instructions to associate your Server ID.
Let us know should you have any questions. Thank you!
Kind regards,
Luiz Maia
