Migrate from 2.10 to latest version

Naman Mandli June 15, 2016

We are planning to migrate from 2.10 to latest version of confluence.

Our 2.10 license has been expired.

Should we buy the license first for 2.10 and then migrate to latest version?

You might find it easier to use an evaluation licence to get from 2.10 to 3.5, as the licence format has changed and it's a bit of a faff to get an old format one.

Where can I get the evaluation licence for 2.10 to upgrade it to 3.5.17?

An evaluation licence for version 5.x will work all the way back to 3.0

What about 2.10 evaluation licence?

You don't need it - your 2.10 is running isn't it?

It is running but the first step in the manual upgrade is "Check your Confluence license is valid." which in our case it isn't, because it's expired.

Yes, that's true, it does say that, and it's a bit more of a pain to get it working if the source system doesn't have a valid licence.  But an expired licence does give you enough functionality to upgrade to a newer version (but the target version must have a valid licence!)
