We have very large spaces with many hundreds of pages and 100+ people using that space. It means that if we set-up notifications from the entire space it will bombard the room with messages not relevant for many. I would like know if there is a way, or a plan for future, to make an integration between a sub-section of a space to a specific HipChat room.
For example one way that comes to mind would be marking specific pages with a label, and to submit notifications to chat rooms depending on label.
I found this plugin (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.go2group.hipchat-confluence/server/overview) via this blogpost (https://blog.hipchat.com/2014/11/24/connect-hipchat-and-confluence-to-take-team-collaboration-to-the-next-level/). But it doesn't answer my question.
Otherwise i'm afraid that the Confluence-HipChat integration will give no value for us. Are others facing this?
Hi Jorge,
Thanks for the suggestion and for explaining why you need this functionality. I can see people with large spaces and a lot of activity would like to have filtering similar to how it is possible in HipChat <-> JIRA integration(it uses JQL)
Right now we don't have immediate plans to implement it. However if a lot of people are in need of this feature we can consider it in the future.
Not sure how appropriate it is for your organization but did you consider creating smaller spaces?
Hi Anatoli, thanks for your response. We have a very large Confluence implementation. Nearly 10000 users and a few hundred spaces (some of which are very very big). I have a hunch that we are a minority type of customer for Confluence. So there will probably not be so many with need of this feature. In fact the main reason why we chose to have one big space instead of several small ones is because we want to have all pages in one place to be able to search across all of them. But now i wonder if we should consider breaking them up. I will bring this up in the project.
