Need help transferring and setting up MySQL/Confluence on new Windows server.

I currently have Confluence running from my Linux 2.6 server. I am having trouble transferring/starting up Confluence on my new Windows Server 2016. 

I installed the same Confluence v.5.9.6 with MySQL 5.1.72, but am having trouble setting up MySQL to finish connecting it all together.

I am new to MySQL, so any step by step information on setting up MySQL to work with my Confluence would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure why Confluence 5.9.6 is working on Linux with MySQL 5.1.72, as the lowest supported platform version is MySQL 5.5: Supported Platforms For best results please install MySQL 5.6.16 or above and follow this setup doc for the database: Database Setup For MySQL
