Hello,
Can anyone advise if we can created nested blog posts under the Blog space, similar to how we can do in a Page?
I would like to organize blog posts by certain themes or relevant departments rather than the default chronological order in which blog posts show up under Blog
It will be a great way to categorize posts under something like a Child Page.
Thanks,
Rufus
Hi @Rufus John,
I don't think that what you are asking for is possible with Vanilla Confluence. However, you might be interested in our app Lively Blogs for Confluence, which might offer a solution to your problem.
In Lively Blogs you can set up categories for your Blog Posts. Each category has a name and a color. You can then configure conditions for each category and if a Blog Post meets one of your conditions, it will be assigned a given category. For example, you could assign all Blog Posts that are created by your CEOs the "CEO Posts" category. Or you could assign all Blog Posts that are in a given Space a certain category. There's several more options and Blog Posts can also have multiple categories at once, if desired. To give you a better idea of what I'm talking about, here's a screenshot of the category configuration screen:
Now, with Lively Blogs there's several places where your Blog Posts can be displayed. An example would be the global Blogs overview. As you can see, there's a tab for each category and each Blog Post has one or more colors below its title, indicating its categories:
As you can see, with Lively Blogs you can also assign teaser images to your blog posts. And of course these are not only visible in the global overview, but also on the Dashboard:
Both the global blog overview and the blog stream on the Dashboard are available as macros as well that you could embed into space dashboards. Of course you can also decide to only display blog posts of certain categories, users, spaces, etc. - just how you want it. :)
There's even more features that we think improve the blogging functionality of Confluence, but I think my post is long enough already. So, if Lively Blogs sounds interesting to you, you can check it out on the Marketplace. If you have any questions, feedback, or feature ideas you can follow up here or create a ticket at our ServiceDesk.
Cheers,
Sven from Lively Apps
@Sven Schatter _Lively Apps_ Thanks, this is great! Especially liked the auto assigning of blog posts based on certain conditions that are met and the option to display in more than one place. Will check out the Marketplace for more and follow-up.
Cheers,
Rufus
