When creating a new space via the Space Create window or by copying another space, the new space automatically gets the status "Archived".
Hi Marko,
From your screenshot you are on Confluence Data Center. This behavior is not standard. Do you have any automations or workflow or page approval apps installed? What happens if you temporarily disable them and test again? Does the issue persist?
Best regards,

Hi Marko
That’s unusual behavior — by default, a newly created space in Confluence should be active right away, not archived. A few things you might want to check:
Space permissions / blueprints:
If you’re copying another space that was archived, sometimes the metadata can “carry over.” Try creating a brand new space (not a copy) to see if it happens there too.
Automation rules or apps:
Check if your Confluence site has any apps, automations, or custom scripts that might be automatically archiving new spaces.
Browser / cache issues:
Rare, but sometimes a cached view can display the wrong status. Test in another browser or incognito to confirm.
Atlassian support:
If this happens consistently for every new space, it might be a site-level bug. I’d recommend raising a support ticket with Atlassian to investigate further.
Hope that helps narrow it down!
