While updating a wiki page (which already had an excel attachment), I copied the link of previous attachment and edited the excel with totally new content. I got to know after publishing the page that confluence keeps deep link of attachments; which means same content got displayed at both places.
I checked the previous versions of the page and restored from last version, but confluence does not version the attachment along with the page. Altogether, the original content of excel is lost for me.
Is there a way to recover the original content; I am not able to see the version control for attachments.
Hi @Vishal Raut,
Both pages and attachments are versioned contents in Confluence. However you are right these are not linked to each other.
If you restore a page from the history it just reverts the page content. Links to attachments or images embedded still point to the latest version of the corresponding attachment.
However as attachments also have a history, you can download a older version of the attachment and afterwards upload it again. This way the older version gets the latest version again and everything is rendered as expected.
Best, Tobias
