As part of a Confluence I'm building I want the visitors to have a button they can click and will open up a Slack conversation with the dedicated team's Slack conversation.

What are the possibilities to do so?

Hi and Welcome,

to create a button in Confluence that opens a Slack conversation with a dedicated team's Slack channel, you can use a combination of Slack's deep linking feature and Confluence's  link capabilities.

Slack provides a way to create deep links that can open specific channels or conversations directly. The format for a deep link to a Slack channel is:

https://slack.com/app_redirect?channel=CHANNEL_ID
  • CHANNEL_ID: This is the unique identifier for the Slack channel you want to link to. You can find this ID by right-clicking on the channel name in Slack and selecting "Copy Link."

  1. Edit the Confluence Page: Go to the page where you want to add the link.
  2. Insert a Text Link: Highlight the text you want to turn into a link (e.g., "Chat with Team on Slack").
  3. Add the Slack Deep Link: Use the Slack deep link format as the URL.
  4. Save the Page: Save your changes.
  5. Test i it fits your topic.
