Padding add to text making extra lines but not actually lines but cant remove

Sometimes when editing text say a list that is not really a list extra lines are suddenly added well padding between lines because its not actually lines because they cant be removed. How the hell do you remove them ? If you look at a section which doesnt have it and a section that does in the wysiwydg editor there is no difference ? can I see the markup any more ?

Found it "Clear formatting" under the strike through tab removes it
