Populated active directory groups appears empty

We have certain active directory groups that confluence cant see any users in, that are populated. JSM can see the users in the groups.

Same settings in the ldap config.

We have nested groups settings activated.

This is a huge problem for us.

Any ideas on a workaround for the confluence bug? or any ideas where to start looking?

To add complexity to the matter, the bug is not static, some groups can from one day to another look empty and vice versa.
