Hi everyone,
I'm using draw.io (with zero egress) to embed diagrams in a Confluence page. In my diagram, I've added placeholders like %filename%
and %version%
, expecting them to dynamically display the diagram's filename or version on the Confluence page.
However, instead of showing the actual values, only the placeholder text is displayed (e.g., %filename%
remains unchanged).
Has anyone encountered this issue or found a way to make these placeholders render correctly?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hey @Jeroen Stobbe . Please have a look at https://drawio.link/placeholders and https://www.drawio.com/blog/placeholders. Here, you will get guidance on how to utilize draw.io placeholders. If you have already followed the instructions, please contact technical support at support@draw.io so our engineers can review it.
Best,
Bastian
Hi @Bastian -drawio Diagrams- ,
Thank you for your response. The pages you mentioned are already known to me.
For your information, I have already submitted a support request with Seibel.

Unfortunately, draw.io does not automatically replace placeholders like %filename%
or %version%
with dynamic values when embedded in Confluence.
These placeholders are not “special” keywords recognized by either Confluence or draw.io; they are just literal text unless you have some kind of integration or script to replace them.
You should either manually fill in those fields before saving or use an automation script app (which I am not knowledgeable about, so perhaps another user could help! :)).

Hi @Teodora V _Fun Inc_ ,
Thank you for your response.
In the meantime, I’ve implemented the workaround you suggested by manually filling in the required fields.
Additionally, I’ve submitted a support request to Seibel. They have confirmed that they are aware of the issue and are currently working on a resolution.
