Problems following instruction / restore passwords to recover admin rights

Simon Kälberer October 19, 2018

Dear community,

I reactivated the confluence internal directory and deleted Jira user management for the Confluence server. Now I am locked out of confluence. I can login in Jira but not in Confluence. Confluence and Jira are both installed as a service.

I tried to follow this instruction to solve that issue:

 https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/restore-passwords-to-recover-admin-user-rights-158390.html

However, I am stuck in step 3: starting Confluence manually not as as service.

Is there a way to start Confluence manually if it is orginally installed as a service? ("You can't start or stop Confluence manually using the start-confluence.bat and stop-confluence.bat file.")

Is there another possibilty to solve my initial problem of being locked out of Confluence, e.g. re-installing it?

Thanks for your help,

Simon

I figured it out: I have to start and stop the file startup_bundled_jre.bat in the installation directory to manually start confluence. After that I can use the "recovery_admin"-user to reactivate the internal user directory in confluence.
